Metro Pacific Water, MIWD donate COVID-19 test kits, supplies and water for Iloilo

ILOILO CITY, Philippines – Two companies of the Metro Pacific Water Group in Iloilo, along with its joint venture partner, Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD) donated over a million pesos worth of COVID-19 test kits, various food and medical supplies, and water stations as part of its COVID-19 assistance to Iloilo City and the 7 municipalities in the Province of Iloilo.

 

Metro Pacific Iloilo Water Inc. (MIW) - the water distribution company for Metro Iloilo, and Metro Iloilo Bulk Water Supply Corp. (MIB) - the bulk water supplier, in coordination with its joint venture partner, the Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD) donated over 1.5M pesos to increase the number of COVID-19 test kits in Iloilo City, and provide front-liners and health workers with medical supplies and access to clean, potable water.

 

Food and various supplies amounting to 100,000 pesos were distributed to the local government units of Pavia, Sta. Barbara, Cabatuan, Maasin, Leganes, San Miguel, and Oton as they have been affected by the enhanced community quarantine measures declared in the province last week. The assistance will enable them to provide more relief goods and necessities to their respective communities.

 

The COVID-19 test kits will be distributed by the Iloilo government through the Office of the Mayor Jerry Trenas. According to Mayor Jerry Trenas, these donations will go a long way in the City’s efforts of containing the novel coronavirus and to safeguard the lives of the Ilonggos, most especially their front-liners who are at risk of contacting the virus.

 

Apart from this, the Group also installed drinking water facilities in LGUs for areas that were converted for PUM’s and dormitories for health workers. These water stations will be maintained and monitored closely as part of the group’s daily testing for residual chlorine. Metro Iloilo Water also announced that water bill reading, and collections will be suspended to comply with the quarantine as well.
